What We Do
Our Forensic Engineering team in experienced in investigating a range of issues, including structural failures, water ingress, and hydraulic or marine infrastructure issues - such as bridges, weirs, wharfs, jetties and culverts - to provide clear, evidence-based analysis and practical reporting and remedial designs, details and documentation.

Remedial Engineering Services
Covey’s comprehensive remedial engineering services include structural and hydraulic investigations, testing, condition assessments, and detailed reporting. Our expert team identifies, and diagnoses issues related to structural damage, corrosion, retaining wall failures, water ingress, stormwater and drainage failures, natural disasters and other building defects.

Our expert team identifies, and diagnoses issues related to structural damage, corrosion, retaining wall failures, water ingress, stormwater and drainage failures, natural disasters and other building defects.
We provide tailored remedial design solutions supported by clear documentation, detailed drawings and technical specifications. We offer end-to-end project supervision and management, ensuring effective implementation of remedial works across all structural and hydraulic systems. With a focus on quality, compliance, and durability, we help restore integrity and functionality to residential, industrial, commercial, and heritage structures.

Hydraulic and Marine Structures Services
Our Forensic Engineering team provides specialised remedial engineering services for a wide range of hydraulic and marine structures, including bridges, locks, weirs, spillways, wharfs, pontoons, jetties, boardwalks, revetment walls, fish ladders and other water-adjacent/related assets. Our services are designed to assess and extend asset life, ensure structural and hydraulic integrity, durability and support compliance with regulatory standards.

Our services are designed to assess and extend asset life, ensure structural and hydraulic integrity, durability and support compliance with regulatory standards.
We provide evaluation of structural capacity, hydraulic function, and failure risks, through detailed calculations, modelling, and evidence-based reporting. Our team develops practical, cost-effective repair and upgrade solutions tailored to site conditions, asset use, and operational constraints. We also offer support throughout the tendering, construction, and fabrication phases, including technical clarification and review of contractor methodologies.

Heritage Building Assessments Repairs & Renovation
We provide specialist structural engineering services for the assessment, repair, renovation, and protection of heritage buildings, with a focus on preserving historical integrity while ensuring structural safety and compliance.

Heritage Building Assessments Repairs & Renovation
We provide specialist structural engineering services for the assessment, repair, renovation, and protection of heritage buildings, with a focus on preserving historical integrity while ensuring structural safety and compliance.
Our service includes detailed inspection and reporting on existing structural conditions identifying damage and deterioration. We provide structural input for modifications or restoration works and construction support with site supervision. In collaboration with heritage architects, planners and contractors, Covey develops practical repair or strengthening solutions that respect heritage fabric, materials and construction techniques.

Insurance Claims
We provide detailed engineering assessments and expert reports for insurance claims involving a range of issues, including (but not limited to) structural defects, storm and impact damage, water ingress, and ground movement such as settlement or subsidence. Our investigations deliver clear, impartial findings to support claim resolution, claim investigations, reinstatement recommendations, and legal or regulatory compliance.

Disaster Response Engineering
We deliver rapid, expert engineering assessments and support in the aftermath of natural disasters such as floods, fires, and earthquakes. Our team provides on-site evaluations, structural integrity assessments, and practical advice to assist with emergency response, safety assurance, recovery planning, and insurance reporting.
Our Team
Our Forensic Engineering team, comprising of Rebecca Gunther, Dr Terry Lucke, and Peter Thew (contracted), boasts an enviable wealth of experience across buildings, civil structures and water-related assets.

Principal Forensic Engineer
Rebecca is a highly experienced structural engineer with a background in design and analysis. She is adept at leading multi-disciplinary designs, focusing on large-scale concrete, steel and timber projects. Rebecca is skilled in managing team co-ordination to achieve superior end user satisfaction and project success. She has a keen interest in forensic engineering, having worked on numerous structural remediation projects.

Senior Forensic Engineer
Terry is a highly experienced civil, environmental and hydraulic engineer with extensive expertise in forensic engineering investigations. His investigations generally focus on performance issues associated with water, coastal and marine structures, including stormwater infrastructure and hydraulic assets. Terry brings a strong practical background in design, construction and research to his forensic work and prepares clear, well-structured forensic reports to support remediation, asset management and dispute resolution.

Scott Condon
Senior Structural Engineer
- Structural Engineer
Beng(Hons), MIEAust
Scott is a skilled structural engineer with over 10 years experience in structural design. He specialises in high-end residential, commercial and industrial projects. Scott is highly experienced in reinforced concrete, timber, masonry and steel design.

Contractor
Peter is a Structural and Forensic Engineer with over 20 years experience in design and delivery of a wide variety of structural and civil projects for both private sector and Government in USA, UK, Pakistan and Australia.
His project delivery roles include experience with structural analysis, structural design (concept and detail design), project management, risk management, value engineering, program budgeting, and construction supervision.
